Damar Hamlin is back in Buffalo.
About a week after his admission, Hamlin was released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and transferred to a Buffalo-area hospital. This was announced by his doctors on Monday. Hamlin explained the great news on social media:
On Tuesday, announced the Bills Hamlin remains hospitalized at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute and is going through a battery of tests and evaluations. Hamlin also tweeted an update on his status:
The Bills’ safety as a sophomore has been at UC Medical Center since suffering cardiac arrest during last Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin’s condition improved dramatically after being first resuscitated on the field by the Bills’ medical staff before leaving the stadium in an ambulance. On Friday,that he was breathing on his own. On Saturday, that Hamlin had “excellent” neurological function.
Hamlin posted his first public comments via social media after FaceTiming with his Buffalo teammates on Friday. In his posts, Hamlin expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported him.
“When you put true love out into the world, it comes back to you 3X as much,” Hamlin wrote on his Instagram page. “The love was overwhelming, but I am grateful for every single person who prayed and reached out for me. We brought the world back together behind it. If you know me, you know this is gone only makes me stronger. On a long way keep praying for me!”
Hamlin has too launched his own line of t-shirtswith proceeds going to the UC Trauma Center.
Hamlin was a starter on Buffalo’s defense and was active on social media during Buffalo’s Week 18 win over the Patriots — one that secured second place for the Bills. Buffalo is now preparing to host the Dolphins in the wildcard round of the playoffs. Hamlin attended the Bills’ postgame celebration via FaceTime on Sunday.
The Bills hope Hamlin can return to the facility during the team’s playoff run.
“Hopefully we can just bring him over here,” said cornerback Tre’Davious White. via the team’s website. “I just want to give him a hug because he’s sitting in the meeting room like two seats away from me and every time he walks into the meeting room he’s like, ‘T Weezy!’ So I can’t wait to hear his voice and to be able to touch him and just hug him and hear that again. So we miss you man and just get in touch with us. It’s been a tough week. It’s been a tough week.”
