Arizona Cardinals fire Cliff Kingsbury

NFL Week 18 – The Arizona Cardinals have fired Kingsbury, according to a report by NFL Network’s head coach Kliff Ian Rapport.

The Arizona Cardinals signed Kingsbury in 2019, finishing 28-37-1 in four seasons and making the playoffs once during his tenure. The Cardinals ended the season with their worst record since 2018 and their worst offensive DVOA since Kingsbury took over the coaching position.

The sacking comes just under a year after Kingsbury signed a six-year contract extension in March 2022, tying him to the team through the 2027 season. The extension coincided with a similar deal signed by general manager Steve Wilks, who was also recently fired.

Kingsbury was brought in alongside quarterback Kyler Murray, who the Cardinals drafted first overall in 2019. Before tearing his cruciate ligament in Week 14, Murray was on track to record a career-low -6.6% and overtake DVOA.
